A flip of the switch (My perfect dad 11)

This is a repost from a Tumblr series that I called “My perfect dad.” I’m preserving these older stories and continuing to write new ones available on this site first.

Aw, man, why do you do this to me all the time? Why do you make me remember everything when there’s nothing I can do but sit here and dwell on it?

Surely you’ve had enough fun with me by now. I told you, if you let me go, I promise I won’t tell anyone where I’ve been or what I’ve been doing. I’ll make something up. I’ll tell everyone I was a drug addict or I was in a coma or something. Anything, but I promise your name will never come up.

The dad workshop (My perfect dad 10)

This is a repost from a Tumblr series that I called “My perfect dad.” I’m preserving these older stories and continuing to write new ones available on this site first.

“Is this the place, babe?”

I looked out the car window. Through the streaks of rain on the glass, I saw a rundown storefront at the end of a dying strip mall. The windows were papered over and the signage long gone, but ghosts of the lettering were barely visible above the door. An old furniture showroom, maybe?

My boyfriend Scott grasped my thigh, giving it a firm squeeze, and then killed the engine. “This is it.”

Reporting as ordered (My perfect dad 9)

I am smiling, but I am not happy.

I am exhausted. And hungry. And sore. And yet, as I look at my reflection in the locker room mirror, I can’t help but be turned on by what I see. A thick beard, meaty pecs, even the beginnings of some abs showing under my pelt of belly fur.

Damn, I’m a hot dad. Can’t wait to show my Son this pic. He’s going to be so proud of His old man. Maybe, if my measurements look good this week, He’ll take me to Buddies for bear night and let me buy drinks for all His friends. God, I love serving my hot Son.

dad bod (My perfect dad 8)

This is a repost from a Tumblr series that I called “My perfect dad.” I’m preserving these older stories and continuing to write new ones available on this site first.

My police buddies started calling me fat. I outgrew three sizes of uniforms and ultimately couldn’t complete the obstacle course in the required time. First warning, second warning, final warning—I just couldn’t seem to drop the excess weight and get back into shape for my job. Nineteen years on the force, only one year away from retirement, and I got canned. Weirdly enough, losing my job wasn’t the scariest part. I was more scared about how my Son would take the news.

He was so understanding. “Don’t worry, Dad,” He said. “I’ll find you a job in no time.” Then He put His arms around my belly and pulled me into a tight bear hug. Every concern I had melted away. Six months ago, back when my Son was just my boyfriend, He told me that when I became His dad, I’d never have to worry about anything ever again.

Favorite things (My perfect dad 7)

This is a repost from a Tumblr series that I called “My perfect dad.” I’m preserving these older stories and continuing to write new ones available on this site first.

I still remember my old life. Sometimes I wish I didn’t, but that’s the way my Son wants it to be. He likes knowing that all my memories and intelligence are trapped inside this big, dumb body, wanting to get out but unable to. Every morning when I wake up before dawn and lay out His clothes for the day, I stop and think to myself, “What would I be doing right now if I’d never met Him?”

I was a physicist, for Pete’s sake, tenured faculty at my university, just hitting my stride,  career wise. Another 10 or so years on this trajectory and I’d have earned myself a long, comfortable retirement.

Music theory (My perfect dad 6)

This is a repost from a Tumblr series that I called “My perfect dad.” I’m preserving these older stories and continuing to write new ones available on this site first.

Author’s note: I wrote this story based on photos of a dad I personally know. I couldn’t keep the story a secret, but out of respect for this dad’s privacy, I removed the photos from the published version. But trust Me, this dad is hot. –JHW

That’s me. Well, it was me. Things are a lot different now, and it’s hard to remember everything that happened to make me, well, who I am now. It all started when he left a few comments on my YouTube channel.

Hey, I really like your music!

Wow, this one’s great! Really enjoyed listening.

Your best track yet! So good, man.

The next day, I noticed he subscribed and then went through my uploads and liked every single one of them. The next week, he was tagging other YouTubers and driving new listeners to my channel. Every time I published a new video, he’d be there almost immediately with a compliment. This was awesome. I had a new fan!

Corrective lenses (My perfect dad 5)

This is a repost from a Tumblr series that I called “My perfect dad.” I’m preserving these older stories and continuing to write new ones available on this site first.

I thought it was weird when my boyfriend told me I should switch back from contacts to glasses. We’d been dating for a few months, and he made little recommendations like that all the time. I just chalked it up to generational differences. I’d never dated a guy young enough to be my son before, and I didn’t think much of it. When he brought home a pair of glasses for me to try on, I just went along with it. Hey, if it’s what the young people are wearing these days, might as well make the boyfriend happy, right?

I can’t remember clearly when things started to change. I started getting… I don’t know, confused, I guess? Making mistakes at work, losing my way on the drive home. My boyfriend was so understanding. He said my glasses probably just needed a stronger prescription. He got me another pair. And then another. And another. I stopped wearing contacts altogether. Wearing my boyfriend’s glasses made me feel happy. Hip. Cool. Young.

Hammer and nails (My perfect dad 4)

I was in the middle of hanging pictures when I got the text message from Sir.

Selfie. Now.

I had to drop everything and comply right away. Sir’s nightly meditation playlists made sure of that. I tried to at least get the pictures I was hanging in the background. I’d been at them all morning. Ever since Sir moved in, He’s been changing everything about my house, from the colors of the walls to which rooms I am allowed to enter to where I sleep.

Executive façade (My perfect dad 3)

I put down my phone and pinched the bridge of my nose. Well, damn. This was going to completely derail my day, but I had no choice. I threw on my suit jacket, grabbed my briefcase, and headed out of my office.

“Something has come up,” I said to my executive assistant as I locked my office door. “I’ll need you to clear the rest of my day.”

Improvements (My perfect dad 2)

This is a repost from a Tumblr series that I called “My perfect dad.” I’m preserving these older stories and continuing to write new ones available on this site first.

Sir has been a great presence in my life. He took an old gay guy like me on as His special project and started me on a campaign of radical improvements—regular and intensive gym workouts, cosmetic dentistry, frequent visits to a proper barber. When I think about what Sir has done for me, I can’t help but smile.
